White on White on White…

Thinking about what to blog from my recent trip to Johnson City and Round Top, I realized that so many of the cottages and little historic towns are actually full of vintage white buildings! When I went through all the photos I shot, I notice the theme and thus my title! Round Top and the surrounding areas are really like nothing else around. Driving into Round Top always makes me feel like I’ve just driven into New England.

Bayberry Antiques open during Markets

One of the highlights of my trip to Johnson City and the Karen Divine workshop at
the A. Smith gallery was getting to visit one new place in Round Top,
VRT or The Vintage Round Top
After driving up and seeing one of the owners on the porch, I decided to stop
and check it out!

Well, sweet Smoot, invited me in even though during Antique Week, they actually stay in the cottage themselves. So I was really intruding into their home but he was nice enough to have a brief chat with me and let me snap a few photos of their fabulous interior.

Another special treat was when my Air B & B host mentioned that she could get me in
to see the historic Catholic Church I had mentioned being so beautiful up on the hill.
So we met the morning I left for home and I got to take photos of the beautiful, ornate
alter and statues. I certainly covered a lot of ground in about 5 days but it was a ton of fun!

Off to Canton! but it’s not 1st Monday…

I had a business trip on Saturday to Canton, and having gone
there for about 5 years every first Monday to set up my booth
when I had my children’s clothing company, I was anxious to
see what was new in town and all around the fair grounds.
Of course, I found the nicest shop in town, which is there
transplanted from Big D, to a quieter way of life, right on
the square! I also ran into dear old friends, whose booth is
in the Pavillions, Sunday House, Don and Lee! Lunch at the corner
bakery with their squash soup which was as good as any fine restaurant
in Dallas! What a fun day, now if it had only been 1st Monday…?

Mad Men drop in on McKinney !

well… sort of… take a look at this really retro seating
arrangement at Fringe the Event as you walk in the door…
makes you think you are on set!

What did I do yesterday … you ask?

Real Men wear Skirts…at least Scottish Men…

or, even if you are not sure if you are Scottish…
you can! Yes, Mr. Seth allowed me to snap his dapper
photo yesterday at the Antique and Vintage Jewelery show
in Grapevine. Yes, Mr Sheet metal worker, Seth. I think
he looks smashing in his kilt and what better place to sport
such an outfit than with a bunch of vintage, jewels, clothes,
cowboy boots and what ever!

Another Bloggers Luncheon at The Prairie!

How lucky can one girl be? Pretty lucky I would say!
This time we have our luncheon with Carol Hicks Bolton
from the original Homestead in Fredericksburg… now
at Antiquities and Laboratoire de Design in the same
place but with a whole new design and look!
Bud from Royer’s Cafe will be providing the delicious food
again and his famous pie for dessert! So watch out blogging
world, here we come for another fun time at the wonderful
Rachel Ashwell Prairie B&B!

The luncheon again benefits Dwell with Dignity, and is
sponsored by The Dallas Market Center and Bud’s – Royers
Cafe!
After the luncheon, I will spend a couple of days for
Marberger Farms as one of their “VIB” bloggers posting
about all the goodness around Round Top and Marberger!
April is really going to be a busy month in Texas
after all the fun and shopping at Round Top, the Country
Living Fair is coming to Austin, for the very first time!
I would say Texans love their antique fairs, that’s for sure!
